2018 Reflection - Mahara

This year Has been a amazing experience for me becuase there was a lot to enjoy about it 3 word that describe 2018 is, Helpful, Amazing and great one achievement that I am most proud of is becoming a student leader. What new things that I discovered about myself is that if I work hard than I can achieve new things. 

One new skill that I learnt was being able was helping other and being more positive to people. 5 people I enjoyed spending time with was wallymei, Kaleb, Timeus, Perenara and fe'ao. who had the biggest positive impacts on my life? Someone who had a big impact on my life was my teacher becuase the believed that I can do better and achieve more then I believe I can. 

This year I have been on lot of trips with my class and we have learnt different things on the way. 2 of my favourite  that we went on was the camp raglan and parakai hot springs, after all I loved this year all the people I met and all the things that I learnt Thank you for reading 

Writing Reflection - Mahara

WALT:Freestyle Write about an image.

Today our teacher asked us to write a story about a picture. This is what I wrote. tell me what you think in the comments

The wind rushed through her hair as she descended the
mountain at great speed. For most children this will be
exhilarating, even terrifying experience but for Lucy it was
just ordinary journey to school.

At first lucy was terrified of the zip line but then she got
use to it. Lucy lived on in the enchanted rainforest high at
the peak of the mountain.an down below was a village of
wonders. She was like a hawk eyeing out the village and
admiring the beautiful landscape.

Her school was very unique it had different cool things about it.
They let bring mufti, and you were allowed to play fortnite
there whenever you want unlike my school it is the opposite.

One morning she woke up late for school so she took the
zip line down even though she has been on it several time
she still get a shock every time she go on it. It is like a different
shocking experience.

As she rushed into the doors of her school she forgot her
bag so she a to go back up the the mountain and then she
got her bag witch was filled of lollies treats and other nice
things that you would like to eat.

Astria Game - Mahara

Today we had to play a games but this game was a game that required a lot of thinking. In this game I had lot of fun becuase is got to read and discuss with my partner what the best suitable answer is. in this game you have to find 6 documents that you have to send to the council, But then you have to talk to different people in the game and answer some questions. If you answer the questions write then you get to  rate the document and then you can go to the council with your document the reason that you have this document is because the ideas of how to stop an asteroid that is coming to your planet. And you have to present your evidence to the council, And try to present the best idea.

What I liked about this game is that you have to answer some questions and you actually have to read the text that is given. What I found challenging was trying to discuss the answer that you want with your friend. Some of the skills that I was using during this game was my some of

Maths Reflection - Mahara

Ialt:Talk about a fraction question and the different stages that I used.

Today we have been working on our Screencastify To record our work for our Maths assessment. What I have done in this in one of my videos was explain how I got my answer. We also had to do our videos in decimals division and fractions. In my video I am talking about fractions and how I got my answer. What I learnt during this lesson is how to solve question using different strategies.  

What I enjoyed about this Was finding out new ways to solve a problem. What I can work on next time is finding out new strategies to solve my questions. Click HERE for video

Reading with Miss Aireen - Mahara

Walt: Use our analysing skills on a still photo

Today in reading we had to look at these 3 photos and try understand what the photographer is trying to tell you witch means that you have to use your analysing skills to help identify what the picture is trying to tell you. What I thought in this photo was that someone was fixing a under ground pipe so they had to go underwater to do that. One of the things that I learnt was how to use my analysing skills more often. 

what I found challenging was actually finding out  the what the picture is trying to say a what you have to find out about the photo. What I am going to work on next time is trying to find out the whole context of the photo. what can help me with my analysing skills is reading more stories and try to understand what the author is trying to tell to you through the story.

Walt:Add and subtract decimals

Today in maths we had to add and subtract decimals we were given a sheet task filled with equations and word problems. what I like about this maths session with miss komor is that we got to learn new things and 

find better strategies to figure out a question. 

what I enjoyed about this maths session was 

that I got to work with my friends so I can found a out more ways to solve the problem. what I need to work on next time is to find out faster way to find the answer.

One of my question where 32.6 + 25.7=?

so the first thing that I did was grabbed my tenths so I don't get my number mixed up. And that was .6 + .7 witch equaled .13 tenths and then I added  32 + 25 witch equaled 57. and then I added the .13 and then that adds up to 58.3

Mahara's Inquiry Reflection

This term our topic is our technological world this means the different technological that we use and how it is changing. what I am focusing on is how cars have changed over time. Like the speeds of the cars, Cars use to go as fast as 16 km at top speeds, And 0.75 horsepower now cars can go faster speeds and more horse power.

What I have found challenging was researching other sites to find out more information for my slides. What I enjoyed about this was funding out new information about cars. Did you know that cars did not have brakes or indicators.

Maths Reflection - Mahara

Walt: Add subtract and understand place value with decimals

Today we had a maths lesson with Miss Komor. We had been learning how to add subtract and understand place value with decimals. What I found challenging about maths session. Adding up the numbers. what I have learn today was if you add up the tenths on the right side of the decimals it will be easier to add up the other numbers later.

One of the questions that I was learning on was 6.4 + 8.7 Which equaled 15.1. How I did that was I stated with the tenths which was .4 and .7 and added those. Which equaled .11 and the I added the whole numbers 6. 8. And that equaled 14. and then I added the tenths to the number 14.11 but the can't be a 11 tenths so I rounded the number up to the nearest tenth and that makes one whole number and the was one tent leaf over so now the number looks like this 15.1

Mahara's Manaiakalani Film fest Reflection.

Ialt: Reflect on The Manaiakalani.

Today was the manaiakalani film festival 2018 the whole school  had to get together and go to sylvia park I Had to jump into the bus with my buddy galf and lyle . The manaiakalani film festival is a place where schools go to to celebrate their learning and let other schools see how other schools learn. what I liked about this film festival is that we got to see how other schools learn and see the cool creative ideas that go into these videos. 

Another reason why I liked it was becuase I got to sit in the cinema with my buddy and watch the movies

Today we have been learning about extended abstract if you don't know what this is this is the different element that are put into art, Such as texture size and shape. we have been learning about this because we are going to Te Tuhi which is a art gallery

I have learnt a lot in this lesson, Like the different element that you can use for your art to make it look cool and effective, another thing that I have learnt in this lesson was that abstract art, Is art when it 

is trying to replicate something but it is disguised.

My Poem - Mahara

Hi,Today I will be talking to you about my poem this term we have been focusing on natural disasters, And we have been working on our poems the natural disaster that I have chosen was earth quakes.  What I have enjoyed about making this poem was that I could rhyme and use different figurative language to help me explain earthquakes. the thing that I found challenging was finding rhyming word that relates to the topic.

The Deadly Earthquake

It shatters,

It shakes, who could know the deadly earthquake?

As silent as can be until he comes marching and stomping down things.

Crash!, Boom!, Bang! is all you can hear now he is here. The town has buildings that are crumbling down. Look at the ground while it breaks.

 Houses are starting to shatter and shake. People are crying and devastated. The earthquake rolls through the town like a destructive rollercoaster crushing things down. Anything in its path is turning to dust, The earthquake has broken the earth's crust.

The earthquake is angry so angry that he is kicking things down like tall buildings they come smashing to the ground. Leaving people with a frown.  

It is silent once again he’s gone, people are happy, happy at last my heart was beating, beating so fast. I feel Surprised it’s all over now it's time to rebuild the town.  We are going to build the town better than can be.

My Pepeha - Mahara

Wala:our pepeha and how to say it.

This week have been learning about the maori language week (Te wiki o te reo maori). This is a week when we celebrate the language and culture of maori. what we did was we have written down or pepeha . If you did not know what a pepeha is . Then a pepeha is a list of stuff. like where you are from and your iwi (Tribe), Or your whanau. and then we had to record elself saying it

What if found challenging was pronouceing some of the maori words. what I enjoyed was finding out my pepeha and learning how to say it. That is all for today but I want to know what is your pepeha. LINK

Museum Trip - Mahara

What I did today at Auckland Museum Was the digital stuff like coding robots and also some other things like stop motion,  Virtual reality, tinkercad, the thing that I like the most was virtual reality. Because this activity requires a headset that you can put over your eyes and then you have these sticks that you hold and then you can draw whatever you want. 

what I have learnt during this trip to the museum was that new zealand  use to be called zelandia and then the country sunk and then very little mountains were the island and then volcano rose the island up out of the water. 

what I found challenging was writing down the answers for our quotations because we had to research through the volcano gallery.
